We have had a busy few weeks but all the team’s hard work and late nights have finally paid off. Two mock inspections confirm that we are now progressing well with elements of Outstanding! I am so proud of my team at Monkey Puzzle and would like to thank them all for all the hard work they’ve put in. But it’s not going to stop there…
With our staff team now complete, the Local Authority behind us and an excellent Parent Committee now supporting us in our improvements, we are confident that we can continue our journey and begin to strive for Outstanding.
So what’s next?
Over the next few weeks, we will carry on working with the Local Authority and our Parent Committee to make improvements. These will include:
- Asking parents, staff and children to tell us about their thoughts… Are the children happy at the nursery? How can we improve the service we provide to parents and their children? Are the play rooms inviting and homely? For staff and parents, we will be sending out questionnaires and making suggestions boxes. With our children, we will use a system called the “Mosaic Approach” which uses children’s own photographs, tours and maps combined with talking and observing to gain deeper understanding of children’s perspectives.
- Looking at making further improvements to our environment by collecting new things for the children to explore. For example, introducing landline phone handsets, hats and bags to support role-play and collecting magazines and catalogues with real life images for children to talk about.
- Making links with the wider community including schools, businesses and the nearby farms to be able to expand the children’s interests and ideas.
These are just some of the things we hope to improve. Watch this space to see how we continue to grow!
