As summer approaches and the days get warmer, we’ve been making the most of the nice weather and our playgrounds. The new outdoor sensory area allows the little ones to dig deep and hide toys, and explore natural textures like mud, bark and grass. The sand pit has also been a firm favourite over the last month, allowing the children to build sand castles and play with the diggers.
We had a couple of chickens come to visit us which the children loved! They could only stay around for a few hours, however Claire, our Owls room leader who brought in the bantams, has also brought in some eggs in an incubator so we can nurture some of our own. We can’t wait for the eggs to hatch and see our little chicks before they go back home with Claire.
The warmer weather also means that butterflies are out in abundance and they certainly love some of the foliage out at the front. Our caterpillars are get getting nice and fat ready to become chrysalides, and before too long we’ll all be watching our little ‘pets’ fly off into the wild.
Our other exciting news in May was that we got a card from the Queen! The children made a birthday card for Her Majesty to help celebrate her 90th birthday, and in return the Palace sent us a card to say thank you. We didn’t expect anything in return, but it was such a nice surprise and so nice for the littlies to know their card was appreciated.
Lastly, we have been attending some of the local fairs to help spread the word and let people know who we are, where we are and what we offer, most notably the Yateley May Fayre, where we met some lovely parents (and parents to be) who have since come to visit our nursery. Come and see us at the Hartley Wintney Village Festival on 11th June, and the Elvetham Heath Village Fete on 18th June where your littlies can take part in free craft activities and you can chat to the team. We can’t wait to meet you!
We are busy planning more events for the children and parents over the summer so watch this space!
