The very youngest children at Monkey Puzzle Hartley Wintney spend their time in our specially designed Babies’ (Hedgehogs) room, welcoming children from the age of three months to around the age of 2 years. The entire space is created with all their needs in mind and built as the perfect environment for them to begin to explore the world around them.
Whilst with us, babies are looked after by a dedicated and specially trained team with each member of staff caring directly for no more than three children at any one time. This enables staff to provide the intimate care your child needs, understanding them as an individual. Doing this also helps staff to work in partnership with your parenting and continue routines from home.
I am so grateful to Monkey Puzzle Hartley Wintney for helping my son to settle so quickly. The care and attention given to him is brilliant and he absolutely loves all the staff. He is always so happy when he comes home, and I know that he really enjoys being there.
In addition, your baby’s development is focused on three prime areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework. These are:
- Physical development
- Communication and language
- Personal, social and emotional development
We base learning on your child’s interests and weave development through your child’s day. We achieve this by talking and role-modelling with them during their play, for example. The care that Monkey Puzzle Hartley Wintney delivers ensures the environment that our babies stay in is stimulating and warm, full of interaction and play.
Hedgehogs Environment
Our Babies benefit from the large, bright, open plan room, which is well equipped with resources to test their senses and encourage development.
As most of our Babies will need to sleep during their time with us, we provide a dedicated sleep room. We constantly monitor the children to ensure the babies are comfortable while sleeping, . Your child’s key person will take care of all your child’s personal needs.
Our Babies have their own dedicated outdoor learning environment, providing a safe space for them to move around at their own pace.
Hedgehogs Care
Babies receive a high level of intimate care through a daily routine that enables this, and through the awareness and genuine care of your child’s key person. Your child’s day will include:
- Regular nappy changes, with genuine care and attention to your child’s specific needs
- Essential sleep and rest, initially supporting your home routine and supporting your child to find their nursery rhythm
- Continuously observing their needs, we wipe noses, clean hands and apply creams and lotions, making sure they are as comfortable as possible
